At Saurus Sands, there are games and quizzes, a zoo with small animals, and one-hour sessions for teenagers - everything from building moving wooden dinosaurs to painting them onto a T-shirt to take home. Bring a camera — our life- sized dinosaur models are spectacular! Don't forget to visit our restaurant afterwards!

 

E. DiplodoPark has something for everyone! Try our Treetops Adventure and climb ropes and swing through trees while model dinosaurs move around underneath! Then come down to earth for lots of interactive, on-screen fun, and dinosaur questionnaires - see how much you know! Why not hire our restaurant for a special occasion? We'll organise everything!

 

F. Be a scientist for a day at Triceraland, by discovering ancient dinosaur bones and photographing them. Teenagers can dig out the model bones from the sand, and learn more through our interactive games and displays. Our souvenir shop has brilliant books, models and games to take home with you.

 

G. You'll believe the dinosaurs at DinoPark are alive as our animated models step out of the forest! A great photo opportunity! Visitors aged 8 and above can go horse riding,in the park. There's also an exhibition showing how real dinosaurs were found, and information about the scientists who found them.

 

H. At Triassic Towers, find out how scientists dig for dinosaur bones. Try it yourself with model bones in our sandpit, while younger family members do fun activities nearby. And buy tickets for our Dino Sleepover — kids and their parents spend the night in our dinosaur museum. Bring your sleeping bags!

I'm 15 and I love gardening! My plan for the future is to go to college and get a qualification in garden design, and then have a career in the industry. But for me, gardening is more than a hobby or a dream career. For years, I did badly at school, especially with reading. It didn't matter what the teachers did or how hard I tried - I got terrible marks in everything. So in the end, my mum decioeo to educate me at home.

Even after that, I wasn't making much progress. But then a friend of my mother's left a gardening magazine at our house, and I couldn't stop staring at the photos. I just had to know how those gardens were created, so I spent hours working out what the articles said. Slowly, my reading improved. And then, as I started learning about things like growing plants from seeds and dealing with plant diseases, it began to help with my maths and science too.

It was the designs of the gardens I saw in the magazines that got me into this hobby, rather than a love of growing things. So when I recently entered a big gardening competition, I wanted to explore the relationship between gardens and art. I did this by making a garden that was half painted flowers and half real flowers. But because I'm only 15, I wasn't allowed onto the site myself to build the garden. I had to give instructions to my mum and her friends by phone. I thought it was silly and it made it really difficult for me. However, the judges liked my garden, which I was really happy about.

Gardening isn't really thought of as a young person's hobby, which is such a shame. But a couple of my cool friends have asked me a lot about it since they found out about the competition. I have a feeling that all that's needed now is for a few celebrities to be honest and say, ‘I love gardening’ — and then all the other kids who are secretly into it can be proud of their interest instead of hiding it away.

Making a film

Last year, I had the opportunity to enter a national film-making competition. My high school provided the equipment but I had to do all the work, including coming up with an idea for the film and doing the filming. The competition rules said the film had to be a ten-minute documentary and I decided to make mine about the local baseball team.

On my first day, I felt excited, but I quickly realised it wouldn't be easy. I had several ideas in my head but I didn't really know what I was doing. (16)............... At the end of the day, I hadn't filmed even one minute that I could use. This was because I had problems operating the camera properly. I asked two friends to assist me the following day. (17)................ As a result, I started to feel more confident.

But things didn't always go so well: after three days of filming my computer broke down. (18)................. After a lot of hard work, he managed to fix it.

After a week of filming, I learned that planning carefully before interviewing people was essential (19)............ The problem was that sometimes they didn't say what I expected them to. At other times, people weren't available or willing to be filmed. One day I intended to talk to the team's coach, but he was busy. Luckily, I ended up getting a brilliant interview with their star player instead.

It took me a month to complete the film. Before sending it in to the judges, I asked my mother to watch the final version. She only noticed a couple of mistakes. (20)................ Even with them I managed to come in second place, and that was a great result for me.

The Olympic Torch

The Olympic torch is an important part of the Olympic Games. lt is lit in anciens Olympia, Greece, and then taken by plane to the country where the Olympics wili take (21)................... Philippa Kelly writes about the school art club

When I joined the art club I wasn't really sure it was for me. I'm not very good at drawing and painting, although I did enjoy both of (27)..............  activities when I was little. But the art club  teacher, Mrs Bould, is very kind and patient. The art club isn't like a lesson at all, and you can draw or paint whatever you like. You can see some of our best work  (31)................ display in the main hall at school. The art club meets after school every Thursday and I would recommend anyone to come and try it.
